July 31: The following announcement has been made by Julian Drinkall, Chief Executive of Macmillan Education:
I am delighted to announce the following senior executive appointments, which, taken together, represent a significant step forward in our goal of creating a unified management and organisational structure and a coordinated strategy for Macmillan Education as a whole, appropriate to the future challenges for the business in an increasingly global and digital environment.
Jeremy Dieguez
,
currently Managing Director Iberia, is appointed to the newly created position of
Managing Director, Grupo Macmillan
, bringing together for the first time all of Macmillan’s Spanish and Latin American publishing activities under one management team. With the current need to focus on the Spanish season, I will help transition Jeremy into this new position such that he will take full responsibility from September 1st.
Sue Jones
rejoins Macmillan Education as
Managing Director, ELT Publishing
. Sue has had one of the most extensive and successful careers in ELT publishing, not only at Macmillan (where she has led publishing teams in Latin American, Asian and European markets) but also at Burlington and, most recently, at McGraw Hill where she was MD of ESL/ELT. In her new role, Sue will have responsibility for all ELT publishing and editorial activity across the Macmillan group, ensuring that we optimise the mix between local and international products and publish in the most efficient and innovative way possible. The publishing directors, sales and marketing and the European (excluding Spain) and ‘International’ businesses will report to Sue. Sue joins us on September 1st and will be based in Oxford.
Richard Nathan
takes on the newly created role of
Managing Director, ELT Digital and Services
. Working closely with Sue, Jeremy and the rest of the ELT Board, Richard will continue to lead Macmillan English Campus but will also be responsible for ELT digital strategy across our current ELT teams and for business development into areas that fall outside traditional ELT text publishing. Additionally, Richard will take responsibility for our Asian ELT businesses. Richard has most recently been seconded from Macmillan Limited, where he has been Group Strategy Director, and he now joins Macmillan Education in this permanent position. In addition to this role, Richard continues to support me with strategy and business development across Macmillan Education.
Paul Emmett
continues in his existing role of
Finance Director, Oxford
but additionally and more explicitly takes on the title of
Finance Director, ELT
.
Going forward, a six-person ELT Board will manage our ELT business, supported by an ELT Leadership Team.
