It includes a number of features to enable effective classroom management including our leading-edge teacher markbook facility.

MEC has been adopted by private language schools and by governmental and state institutions throughout Europe and Latin America. Customers using MEC include the International House World Organisation (IHWO), Embassy Schools (UK) and Bell International.

Macquarie

First published in 1981, and acquired by Macmillan Australia in March 2001, the Macquarie Dictionary is now firmly established as the most authoritative record of Australian English. It is available online at http://www.macquariedictionary.com.au

Later, many smaller and specialised dictionaries as well as thesauri and other reference works were published. These have contributed to Macquarie's reputation as Australia's leading language reference publisher.

The dictionary’s intellectual base was developed by the Linguistics Department of Macquarie University, and The Macquarie Library Pty Ltd was established specifically to publish and market the dictionary.

Using Macquarie's extensive language databases, Ozcorp and Asiacorp, the 3rd edition, published in 1997, includes new words that have appeared in Australian English since the publication of the second edition in 1991.

This edition was updated in early 2002 with the publication of the Revised Third Edition. Of special interest in the revised third edition is the range of items from the Englishes of South East Asia, many of which make their first appearance in a general dictionary.

Despite considerable odds, Macquarie is now Australia's best-selling dictionary range and is expanding into other markets. The third edition sold out its first print-run of 10,000 copies in a month.

MacquarieNet

MacquarieNet is a general reference subscription website that has been specifically designed for Australian schools.

Since its inception in 1996, MacquarieNet has been providing fast and easy access to a broad range of research resources and search options for students and teachers across all states of Australia.

A vast amount of reliable and accurate content is available, which includes an extensive range of encyclopaedias, Macmillan Library content, daily AAP newsfeeds, dictionaries, historical data, changing featured articles, lesson plans, worksheets and images.

In early 2002, MacquarieNet was relaunched with a new design, interactive Australian map interface, new content and a choice of two search interfaces - each providing access to different levels of content according to students’ ability.

MacquarieNet continues to develop features and functions as part of its dedication to being the major educational site for Australian schools.
