Anthony Forbes Watson appointed interim Managing Director of Pan Macmillan.

Anthony Forbes Watson will join Pan Macmillan on 1 May as Managing Director on an interim basis following the departure of David North, who will be leaving the company on 11 April.

Annette Thomas, Chief Executive of Macmillan Publishers Ltd said "Pan Macmillan is firmly established as a foundation stone of the Macmillan group and I am delighted that Anthony is joining us as Managing Director on a temporary basis, which will create a stable and smooth transition period until a permanent appointment is made."

Anthony Forbes Watson commented, "'Pan Macmillan is a trade publishing heavyweight with a successful and distinguished publishing heritage. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to work closely with team there and with Annette, at an exciting time in the company's development".

Annette went on to say, "Anthony is a leading figure in the industry with a long and distinguished career, most recently as CEO of Penguin from 1996 to 2005 and since then as a consultant on a number of high profile projects for several leading publishing houses. His expertise in developing and driving innovative growth initiatives, coupled with his extensive industry background and experience, makes him ideally placed to take on a short term role at Pan Macmillan, which will include both day-to -day management of the company and assisting me as I develop a new and ambitious growth strategy for the future."
