Operations Director
I am pleased to tell you that Lawrence Jennings, a former Managing Director of Macmillan Distribution Ltd, will be re-joining Macmillan as
Operations Director, reporting to me, with effect from May 6. Dave Smith (Managing Director of MDL) and Andrew May-Miller (Group IT Director) will report to Lawrence.
Lawrence, whose original training was as a chartered accountant, has a strong background in the publishing industry. His experience includes the roles of group finance director for Thomson Books, managing director of Orbis Publishing and chairman of Book Data Ltd, and he was MD of MDL from 1993 - 1997.
Also effective May 6, Colin Bond will join the international board of Macmillan Education and report to Julian Drinkall, while retaining his responsibilities as Managing Director of Macmillan Production (Asia) Ltd. Julian commented: "The success of our educational publishing is inextricably linked with our expert and resourceful production operations in Asia and it will be invaluable to have Colin's wide experience directly available to us."
Mike Barnard will hand over his temporary main board responsibilities for MDL and MP(A)L. He will retain his role as Deputy Chairman of Macmillan Limited and will assist in a consultancy capacity with production issues in MPAL and the UK companies. He will continue as a director of Macmillan India.
