MACMILLAN Spain announces launch of a new editorial line of Spanish language children’s books
Macmillan Spain is launching a new children’s books list with the first titles due to launch in 2007. The move reflects Macmillan’s strategy to become a premier publisher of Spanish titles in Spain, expanding from its current focus on English language textbook publishing.
The first step in this diversification initiative took place a few months ago with the launch of the new brand Macmillan Professional, which will publish educational texts in Spanish for the vocational education market from 2007.
The launch of the new children’s publishing project is a further fundamental step in this diversification strategy, and will take the form of two lines of activity: the translation and adaptation of existing Macmillan titles and titles from other publishers to make them suitable for the Spanish market, and the local development from scratch of a new editorial line of children’s literature titles written by Spanish authors.
Macmillan Spain is recruiting the editorial and marketing teams now with the aim of publishing the first titles next year.
MACMILLAN Spain
MACMILLAN’s company in Spain is fully owned by MACMILLAN Publishers Ltd. and has been operating in Spain since the end of the eighties. MACMILLAN is one of the leading publishers in English language teaching in this country, and is swiftly expanding its business there.
